What is the word for someone whose words or actions make the people around them dislike them?

What is the word for someone whose words or actions make the people around them dislike them?

For example: A narcissist who constantly puts down others.
I believe the word starts with the letter "v" and rhymes with vindicate/abdicate. I'm probably wrong considering I've gone through all of Rhymezone, and went through all words starting with the letter "v" in the dictionary.
I've look at the thesaurus and already checked
stack exchange and none of the answers were correct.

To help you guys find the answer I'll give you examples of what I'm not looking for: Repugnant:extremely distasteful; unacceptable. Pugnacious: eager or quick to argue, quarrel, or fight. I'm not looking for actions that people find offensive, and I'm not looking for a person who people find offensive (beggar or tramp).

I'm looking for a word that means: A person whose words or actions make the people around them dislike them. If I can be any clearer please let me know

Thanks

  • Not really clear what you're after. vituperate would be to blame or castigate others with rather strong words.

  • Repulsive, maybe?

  • vile? I might add that many here do not like trying to find the one word you desire.

  • And it rhymes with the final syllable of "vindicate"?
